I headed back to the C3 in Gary last weekend. I had a win, a loss, and a tie that I lost the decision on (no sudden death?!). Anyway, I was pretty pleased with the progress I've made. I wanted to show you guys the vids to see what you thought. Here's the first vid. I f'd up early, probably due to the jitters erasing all technique from my brain and replacing it with packing peanuts. I managed to come back and work some submissions, but there just wasn't enough time to come back and win. Good thing I signed up for the Absolute division too. youtube.com/watch?v=LVwLgWc-428Here's the second vid, showing the first round of Absolute. This guy was a little smaller, but was a very good wrestler. I manage to throw a sloppy Harai Goshi about two minutes in that I'm very proud of, then I play defense to run the clock down. I beat him 12-4. youtube.com/watch?v=QQdNCcVWjboThis third vid is against a Brazilian guy in the second match. He was much more cautious, but I caught him with a Tani Otoshi (thanks for the lessons Carl!) when he became a little predictable. He passes my guard and ties the match, and wins the decision (why we didn't have a tie-breaker is anyones guess). youtube.com/watch?v=TZg0l5nPikU

Nice job on all three, man, especially with that harai goshi. Seems like you always get screwed on the points, always a close call. In the first vid, just after the 3 min mark when you yanked away from his armbar and flew into side control, that was nice. Seeing these has gotten me pumped up....aahhhhh I need to grapple! Also, I love the music

I'm planning on getting back into Judo after I get a blue belt in BJJ. I've always planned on alternating between the two for long stretches of training. I haven't done it for about 9 months though.
Yeah, that standing guard pass with the armbar bait is my favorite guard pass. I use it very early on in the second video too, you just cant see it from that angle. If you watch the first vid, I stand and use a thrust choke with the collar, which forces them to open their guard and defend. As soon as their legs open, I pull both arms out and pass to the side.
