Check it: www.smartvest.net/index.aspIt may not seem like much, but imagine being 12 lbs heavier during your training, then suddenly being 12 lbs lighter during a competition or something. It's not like those big bulky weighted vests that strap over your shoulders, it's slimmer and rests the weight on your hips, and it's not weight in excess. I'm thinking about getting one with my extra tax refund money. I tried doing this whole 'wear ankle weights constantly' thing to improve quickness of footwork and kicks....not much positive results. I'm thinking this vest will prevent knee damage as opposed to the ankle weights. If you're interested check it out!

Be careful with wieght vest and such, Ive read somewhere that using wieght vests ankle wieght and wrist weights actually decrease speed and explosive power. In the article, I cant find it right now, it said that when using wieghts that way you move slower and it trains your muscles to move slower. The best way to increase muscle speed is just to do the movement as fast as you can with no wieght over and over again. Ive never tried a weight vest or shorts, but I have tried ankle weights and wrist weights and found this to be true. That site does have a lot of pro-athelete testimonials on it though so maybe it would work. I personally would just hate to invest in something like that and have negative results.

I see what you mean about weights making you move slower..but I think that effect would be bypassed if you just put on a little bit of extra weight and trained on quickness, until you can comfortably move at your normal speed with the weights, then take em off and you'll be alittle faster. I'm no kinesiologist so I dunno for sure. When I did ankle weights my speed/strength didn't seem to increase by much or at all for sure, but my endurance was enhanced, especially with running. I'm feeling adventerous regaurdless, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get one and just see how it goes. If it sucks, I'll just hawk it on ebay

I was looking at this site again, and apprently their suggested training method is only to use a few pounds at a time for desired results. For an example they said that pro NFL athletes who are notorious for being crazy tough and in shape only add 4lbs with their smartvests while training. So newbies shouldn't go any higher than that. These weight vests are catching on now, they've started carrying them in walmart.

No I haven't yet...the kind at walmart are bulkier and heavier, and I'm gonna wait until I get stronger overall I think before adding it to my training.
