Sweet! I wish there were some places around here that had classes in the morning or mid-day.

did they count that as a takedown for him? It looked more like you jumped gaurd to me. Also what is that submission he got? It looks kinda like hara gatame but i cant really tell....

He initiated the takedown before I jumped, so he got 2 points. As far as the submission, he had my arm ude-garami-torqued across his belly, with his right leg and right hand stopping me from turning into him. My hand is behind his left armpit getting pulled back.
I didn't realize I was in trouble until it was too late.
If you look at my youtube account, my "Favorite Videos" has counters to all the things I screwed up on (single leg, north-south escape).

Hey man at least you learned and took something from the loss. If I remember correctly you were more intense at the last NAGA. That and DAMN that guy was playing freakin' low. He was on his knees at one point...you shoulda just leapt forward and pressed him down into mount, hehe.

I think it would actually be hara garami, since gatame is straight arm lock, while garami is bent such as ude garami. I have never seen it before either, hara gatame yes but not the bent one, im gonna see if I can get it in judo tonight I had a guy counter my north south with that move in bjj. My favorite counter for single leg is uchi mata, your legs right there and hes deep and bent over, real easy to get a strong belt grip or over hook into his oppisite side armpit if no gi. It works best if you can go for it as soon as he reaches in for the leg. Sometimes you end up in half gaurd, but usually your on top and in half gaurd.

Yeah, like I said, I let a lot of opportunities to go by when I stalled like that. I should have just come out fighting like the first time. I least I forced that guy to pull gaurd.
The arm was definitely bent, not straight. He had me in N/S and the arm he attacked was under his armpit, so he trapped it and swung his right leg around under his left until he was laying next to me, then threw it over my stomach and arched his back. I asked him about it later and he said he didn't have it at first and had to work his way down the arm until his hand was under my elbow.
As far as that takedown, my entire thought process was this:
"Crap. Better pull guard."
but I noticed later that his belt came off in the first 30 seconds. If you look, he didn't even tie it tight. He starts the match with it hanging off. Ill have to keep an eye out for that kind of stuff.

yeah thats stupid, i dont like those dirty tricks as far as Gi wearing goes. I mean if your gonna fight gi just fight with the gi like its supposed to be. Dont loosen the belt or untuck you jacket in the first 5 seconds. I mean if your going to play like that just play no-gi....
